THE DEATH OF MEGAUPLOAD:: A BRIEF INFORMATION IN LIGHT OF ALL THIS MISINFORMATION FLOATING AROUND TUMBLR AND THE GENERAL WEB AND HOW THE BIG BAD SOPA IS ALREADY EFFECTING US AND THE GOVERNMENT IS CENSORING US ALREADY.
Megaupload’s situation is NOT BECAUSE OF SOPA GUYS. It’s not even REALLY because of copyright law, though that is one of the charges they’re saddled with. It’s just a horribly timed PR nightmare.
The US has had an on-going investigation for nigh on two years into that website, because of servers in Virginia they owned/operated on that had copywritten content blatantly on their servers.
Was Megaupload useful? Hells to the yes.
Are there other sites out there like them WITHOUT letting people upload copywritten content? Also yes.
What happened between the German/New Zeland ( I have heard both going around, need more info to clear this up, but both governments would do this since we are on politically solid ground with both of them) government and the US government was a very rarely used political gambit called an extradition, where if someone causes trouble for another country and those countries are on good terms they usually will allow the other government to come in an make an arrest.
It doesn’t mean our government is wrong, hell, SOPA is all but defeated for quite a while now, and PIPA has been shelved a few months at the very least.
Limewire went through similar preceedings, and while online mp3 piracy may be seen by the general public and even some superstars as free advertising, since really you’re copying a piece of material, not stealing it, it’s the distribution that people consider a crime. Yes, it’s been around since mixed tapes, but don’t blame SOPA or any silly thing legislation that hasn’t come to pass yet.
ALSO NEW LEGISLATION TAKES AT THE VERY LEAST UNTIL THE NEXT QUARTER TO BE ENACTED FULLY EVEN IF IT PASSES EARLY ON IN THE YEAR. So something like THIS with MU, would not happen so quickly. ^ ^;;
Not disputing that it sucks or that there are worse torrenting/pirating sites out there than MU, just wanting to distribute information so everyone’s more informed/knows what’s actually going on. :3
EDIT::
Also, to explain a little on extraditions.
The US government/FBI would have had to file a full-blown report with findings that the government/US business was compromised because of MU, to whatever country they came forward to.
WHAT THIS MEANS BY READING BETWEEN THE LINES, is that the owner of the website is being held accountable for PROPRIETARY INFORMATION THAT WAS PROBABLY UPLOADED ONTO THEIR VIRGINIA SERVERS. Meaning? Credit info, billing info from government-run facilities, ect ect, anything that could compromise a large portion of citizens, or a government facilities security, was uploaded anonymously onto MU. It sucks that the owner is taking the heat for it, but as he’s a foreigner and manages all the files uploaded onto the servers, it’s technically considered espionage rather than pirating. Pirating/copyright laws are probably the public-relations charges that you will know about so you don’t realize how vulnerable your government can be when a few anonymous jerkoffs misuse information.
Other major charges were racketeering, money laundering, bribing people to upload copywritten material, ALL OF THIS DONE ON THEIR US SOIL SERVERS.

OH GOD Y U REMIND ME OF THIS MOVIE ; A;
Twas such a sad but beautiful movie at the same time.
And oh god the imagery. If anyone has NOT seen the Lovely Bones yet, rent it, bawl your eyes out, rent it again, and be able to appreciate the imagery and skill of artwork the second time around.

HOW RACIST ARE YOU? (part 1)
These 30 people have never met. By the days end, they may wish they never had. For one long day they’ll be at the mercy of The Bitch, a retired American teacher. Some would say she calls herself this way for good reason.For 40 years Jane Elliott (A Class Divided) has been running an exercise that has ignited controversy around the world. She says it lays bare the hidden truth about racism in white societies.
This video is in response to the anon who asked the below question.
What does it mean to be black? Do you feel, personally (if you’re black) that every race is, in general, racist against you? Share with me some informative links. I want to learn, please.
Racism is a social construct created to maintain the social dominance of A particular group. Racism became the norm to justify slavery and colonialism. It is still very rampant today. I will go into this in more detail in my answer.
I am currently writing a in-depth answer to these questions. Followers submit your own answers state your Location & your experience.
The amount of concentrated denial and ignorance demonstrated in this experiment is making me smgh.
(Parts 2 and 3 continued on Youtube.)
Jane Elliott is superbly unapologetic and just, damn, I love watching her work. I’m really glad this popped up on my dash.
She’s so powerful.
Damn. I’d love to say I’m on board with everyone here, but no, I’d have to leave.
There’s no reason to treat anyone like that. Do I feel more comfortable in a neighborhood with white people of my equivalent social/financial status in it? Yes. Do black people feel more comfortable in a neighborhood with other black people of their equivalent social/financial status in it? Absolutely.
What she’s teaching is a good thought, but how she’s doing it is abrasive, it does NOTHING to empower the people who feel they are being opressed (which really, I think racism wouldn’t be much of a problem if TEACHERS LIKE SHE IS SUPPOSED TO BE would TEACH the devalued children that feel opressed to stand up for themselves in a positive way and to show everyone they ARE an individual worth something). I’m with the kid who walked out. I have a bit of racism in me, yes. Our entire generation does. Does that mean I go around treating people like shit like Nazi Germany? Absolutely not. Does that mean I take their opportunities away from them and belittle them? Absolutely not.
This teaches absolutely NOTHING but a HISTORY exercise. The people that NEED this kind of hard/cruel lesson are the peopl who are NOT volunteering because they simply do not WANT to change. I support this idea, but not this woman nor the way she handles it and if she had ever done that to MY third grade child, I would have demanded the school fire her for randomly victimizing our children.
